VAWG and Crime prevention stall was held .......

Dear, Resident

On Monday 21st September 2026 staff from Sevenoaks district council and officers from the neighbourhood policing team (NPT) held a VAWG (violence against women and girls) stand and a general crime prevention stall within the main foyer at the Asda main store in Swanley. 

Surveys were completed with women and girls about how safe they feel in their local area in the day time as well as night time, when out walking alone, whether this be to and from work or when visiting shops in the town centre, how safe they feel using public transport and questions around what could done to help keep women and girls safe - answers ranged from more CCTV, better street lighting, more police officers/PCSO's on foot in the streets, educating young boys at schools about how relationships should be and where women shouldn't be suffering any form of violence, or sexual abuse on nights out. 

It was great speaking to many people and offering out items to help safeguard women and men, items such as panic alarms, bottle toppers, glass toppers, signing up to My Community Voice (MCV), purse chains, signal blockers card holders to stop your bank cards from being scanned and leaflets about crime prevention. 

We will look to hold more events soon, one for the diaries is the local officer is holding a police surgery at the NEXT DOOR CAFE in HEXTABLE on Tuesday 27th October 2026 at 1000hrs - a reminder will be sent out nearer the time. This is an opportunity to meet him and discuss any concerns about your local area.
